

Alumni Network Privacy Policy
Mayer Brown values your privacy and cares about the way in which your personal data are treated. The Alumni Privacy Notice describes the privacy practices in relation to the Mayer Brown Alumni Network website available at alumni.mayerbrown.com. It supplements the Mayer Brown Privacy Notice.
The Alumni Network is a website where alumni of Mayer Brown and other invited parties such as current Mayer Brown personnel (together "Alumni") have access to member benefits, such as alumni news, events, programmes, offerings and other information about the Mayer Brown global community. Your use of the Alumni Network website is subject to your agreement to its Terms of Use.
Mayer Brown (“We” or “us”) is a global services provider comprising legal practices that are separate entities, including Tauil & Chequer Advogados, a Brazilian law partnership with which Mayer Brown is associated (collectively the “Mayer Brown Practices”), and affiliated non-legal service providers, which provide consultancy services (the “Mayer Brown Consultancies”). The Mayer Brown Practices and Mayer Brown Consultancies are established in various jurisdictions and may be a legal person or a partnership. Details of the individual Mayer Brown Practices and Mayer Brown Consultancies can be found in the Legal Notices. Any legacy Alumni Network data transferred to a successor Mayer Brown Practice or Mayer Brown Consultancy will also be treated in accordance with the Alumni Network Privacy Notice.
Mayer Brown is the controller of Alumni personal data.
1. What personal data do we collect about you?
In the Alumni Privacy Notice where we use the term personal data, we use this term to describe information that is about you and which identifies you. We collect personal data from you during the course of your use of the Alumni Network website and member benefits, as described in the Alumni Privacy Notice.
The personal data that we process includes:
Upon first log-in or account activation triggers your Basic Profile Details to appear in the Alumni Directory. No contact data is displayed unless you choose to amend your profile settings and choose to share your contact data. You are entitled to remove or amend any of this information from your Mayer Brown Alumni Network profile at any time by contacting us at info@alumni.mayerbrown.com or by updating your information on your Alumni Network profile by logging into the Mayer Brown Alumni Network website and updating ‘My Profile’. If you choose not to disclose your Basic Profile Details, we may not be able to provide our Alumni Network website or member benefits.
Before providing us with personal data about another individual you undertake (unless otherwise agreed) you will have the appropriate and necessary permissions to share such personal data with us.
2. How we obtain your personal data
We may collect or receive information about you from third party sources. For example, we may use publically available sources to keep the contact details we hold for you accurate and up to date.
You hereby agree and give us your express, clear and free consent to collect your personal data in the above circumstances.

5. Communications we may send you
From time to time, we, or third parties acting on our behalf, will send you information about Mayer Brown and the Alumni Network, including newsletters, invitations to events, opportunities and updates on the Alumni Network Privacy Policy and the Mayer Brown Privacy Notice. If you do not wish to receive this information, or if you are already receiving this information from us or third parties acting on our behalf and you no longer wish to do so, please email us at info@alumni.mayerbrown.com. You may also manage your communication preferences through the Mayer Brown Alumni Network website by clicking on ‘Settings’ in the ‘My Profile’ section at the top right-hand corner of the website.
To improve and ensure the relevance of the communications we send, we collect information about whether you read the emails and other materials that we send to you, click on the links in those emails and materials, and whether and how you visit our website after you click on those links. We do this by using software that places a cookie on your device which tracks this activity and records it against your email address. Please see our Cookie Policy for more information on cookies and how to manage and remove them. Removal of this cookie will not affect your experience on our websites.
6. Meetings, events and seminars
We will collect and process personal data about you in relation to your attendance at our offices or at an event or seminar organised by Mayer Brown or its business partners. We may share your information with IT and other service providers or business partners involved in organising or hosting the relevant event.
Where you provide us with information about your dietary or access requirements in connection with your attendance at our offices or at an event or seminar, we will only use that information in order to cater for your needs and to meet any other legal or regulatory obligations we may have.
7. Who we share your personal data with
The Mayer Brown Alumni Network website is powered by IntraWorlds. IntraWorlds serves as data processors for Mayer Brown and our IntraWorlds Account Manager will have access to personal data. Our Account Manager is bound by duties of confidentiality, the Mayer Brown Privacy Notice and the IntraWorlds Privacy Policy and Disclaimer.

When you contact and message a user through the website, an email will be sent through the website to the user in two ways: (i) the user will receive a notification within their inbox in the site (located in the top right corner of the website) and (ii) the user will receive an email from you to their preferred email inbox. By performing this action, your preferred email address will be displayed to the user you have contacted.
By registering, activating your account and using the Alumni Network website you hereby agrees to its Terms of Use and the Alumni Network Privacy Policy, giving us you express, clear and free consent for this share of date.
8. Your rights regarding your personal data
The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation and other applicable data protection laws provide certain rights for individuals. For a description of your rights and how to enforce them, please refer to the Mayer Brown Privacy Notice.
We must ensure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. Therefore, please advise us of any changes to your information by emailing us at info@alumni.mayerbrown.com. You may also update your information on your Alumni Network profile by logging into the Mayer Brown Alumni Network website and updating ‘My Profile’.
If you wish to cease to participate in the Alumni Network in its entirety, email us at info@alumni.mayerbrown.com or click on the ‘please remove me from the Network’ at the bottom of the left-hand navigation panel within the website.
9. Alumni Privacy Notice update
Any changes we make to the Alumni Privacy Notice and Policy in the future will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified to you by email. The updated Alumni Privacy Notice will take effect as soon as it has been updated or otherwise communicated to you.

The following Terms of Use set out the basis on which you are entitled to use the Mayer Brown Alumni Network website. These Terms of Use are an Addendum to the Mayer Brown Acceptable Use Policies and Terms of Use which you can find here: Mayer Brown Legal Notices.
1. Definitions
1.1 References on the Website, in these Terms of Use and in the Privacy Policy to:
“Mayer Brown” to be aligned with other references.
“Content” shall mean any text, software, database, format, graphic and written work and all other materials developed by, or on behalf of, us which are or form part of the Website;

“User Data” shall mean any data relating to a data subject registered as a user of the Alumni Network Website;

“we” “us” or “our” shall mean Mayer Brown and its successors and assigns;
“you” or “your” shall mean a user of the Website;
“Your Material” has the meaning given to that term in paragraph 3.1 of the Terms of Use.

3. Material Provided by You (Your Material)
3.1 You will ensure that all material you send or upload to the Website (for instance, curriculum vitaes (CVs), e-mails, text, graphic files, still or moving images, or responses to any questionnaire available through the Website) (“Your Material”) will be legal, decent, honest and truthful, complies with all laws and regulations, does not infringe the Intellectual Property Rights or other rights of us or any third party, is not defamatory, obscene, offensive, pornographic or otherwise objectionable, is free of bugs, worms, or viruses and is not fraudulent, false, unreliable or misleading.
3.2 If we consider that any part of Your Material does not comply with paragraph 3.1 above or otherwise exposes us to the risk of a claim or complaint by any third party, we may block access to any or all of the Website and remove any or all of the relevant part of Your Material. You will provide all reasonable assistance to us in this respect. To the extent reasonably practicable and appropriate to do so, we will notify you in advance of taking this action.
3.3 You will not use the Website to advertise or sell any goods or services to other Website users, except as expressly permitted on any part of the Website or by us in writing. Your Material added to the Community Notice Board will be moderated by the Alumni Manager. If your post (Your Material) to the Community Notice Board is time-sensitive, notify us by email at info@wp.intraworlds.com/mayerbrown2 and we will endeavour to ensure Your Material is posted promptly.
3.4 You will not publish any information or personal data in relation to any third party without demonstrating you have a valid legal ground for doing so and have complied with the provisions of applicable laws and regulations.
3.5 When providing Your Material for the careers section of this Website you shall ensure that all Your Material is accurate and complies with all laws, regulations and policies (including internal policies) applicable to the advertising and recruitment in the organisation and jurisdiction where the employment is on offer.
You will not provide Your Material for the careers centre section unless authorised, including by your employer or other relevant organisation, to do so.
If you wish to respond to any advertisement for employment, please ensure you reply to the organisation as detailed in the advertisement. Responses or e-mails sent to Mayer Brown, other than for positions within Mayer Brown where the advertisement requires the application to be made via Mayer Brown, will not be forwarded to the organisation advertising the employment.
3.6 You are solely responsible for Your Material.
4. No Warranties
No representation, warranty and/or condition, express or implied, statutory or otherwise, as to condition, satisfactory quality, performance, fitness for purpose or otherwise is given by us (or applicable) in respect of the Website or the Content and all such representations, warranties and/or conditions are excluded, except to the extent that their exclusion is prohibited by law.
5. Online Privacy
5.1 You acknowledge that use of the Website results in our processing of the personal data you provide. Our Privacy Notice and Alumni Privacy Notice explain the basis on which we will use that data and you agree to the terms of it.
5.2 In performing our obligations under these Terms of Use, you and we will each comply with all applicable data protection legislation.
5.3 By using our website you agree to our use of cookies as described in our Cookie Policy.
6. General Provisions
6.1 We reserve the right to vary or amend these Terms of Use from time to time. We will notify you of any such amendment by posting the relevant amendment to the Website. Any changes shall take effect upon posting to the Website.
6.2 Our rights under these Terms of Use:
(a) may be exercised as often as necessary;
(b) are cumulative and not exclusive of rights or remedies provided by law; and
(c) may be waived only in writing and specifically. Delay in the exercise or non-exercise of any such right is not a waiver of that right.
6.3 If a provision of these Terms of Use is or becomes illegal, invalid or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, that will not affect:

By registering to this Network, signing up for third party offers, using the job board, uploading your CV, registering for events or posting to the community notice board, you will be providing us with details like your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, employment and business details. You provide this information to us by registering with us, updating your user profile or by uploading your CV. We will be collecting, storing, using and transferring those data under the Terms of Use and Alumni Privacy Notice.
The information you provide us will allow Mayer Brown to provide you with access to our site and services. You can amend what information you receive through this Network by clicking on ‘My Profile’ within the website and amending your email preferences, user settings or unsubscribing from the Network.
Community Notice Board: When posting to the Community Notice Board, your posts will be moderated by the Mayer Brown Alumni Team. They have the right to publish, edit or remove your post from the website in accordance with the Terms of Use and the Alumni Privacy Notice.
Job Board: When registering for roles you may be interested in through the Job Board, you will forwarded to the Mayer Brown Career Site. All applications will be managed through the Mayer Brown HR Recruitment Team.
Third party offers and benefits: From time to time, third party offers and benefits will be published on the Mayer Brown Alumni Network website. Mayer Brown is not recommending or endorsing these products or services. The choice of whether to sign up for these offers is a personal one and any agreement reached is between you as an individual and each Product or Service Provider. Mayer Brown receives no remuneration from these Companies, Products or Services for any introduction or involvement, and we are unable to give any legal, tax, financial or investment advice as to the suitability of these products and services for you. If you take up the offer, you will become a customer solely of the Company offering the Product or Service and will be bound by the terms and conditions of their products/services.
